About Business Centre

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking highly-qualified professionals for the mentioned below positions in the Agriculture Policy for Human Development Project (APHD).

The aim of the project is to provide assistance to the Government of Ukraine through a permanently operating Secretariat of the Presidential Commission on Agricultural Policy of Ukraine in analysis, formulation and development of agricultural policy.

Post title: Project Analyst — one position (Ukrainian National)

Duration: 3 month probationary contract, 9-month regular contract with possible 12-month extensions for second year
Expected date for entry on duty: April 15, 2002
Reports to: National Project Manager
Coordinates with: Strategic Area Manager

Key tasks:

  • monitoring policy developments affecting the agro-food sector;
  • research and evaluation of alternative policies on issues affecting the agro-food sector;
  • design of market-oriented alternative policies;
  • situation and outlook analysis of assigned agricultural commodities;
  • develop datasets and models relating to the sector and/or specific agricultural commodities;
  • facilitate transfer of market-oriented concepts and analytical techniques to local specialists in government, research and education;
  • other tasks to support the work of the Government Agrarian Policy Coordination Council as assigned

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of diplom in agricultural economics, social science or related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in agricultural policy analysis
  • Proven ability to work with multi-cultural and interdisciplinary research teams in high-pressure situations
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate and disseminate results of economic policy research
  • Excellent Ukrainian drafting skills
  • Knowledge of standard office software
  • Publications on appropriate subjects an asset
  • Experience of work with Ukrainian government agencies an asset
  • Knowledge of English or other foreign languages an asset
