United Nations Development Program Office is seeking highly qualified professional to fill in position of Editor

Terms of Reference

Programme/Project Title: Programme Resource Centre

1. Post title: Professional English language Editor

2. Duration of employment (dates): 21 October – 21 December 2002

3. Part time

4. Duty station: Kyiv, Ukraine

5. Duties and Responsibilities: In order to assure UNDP communication outreach and to enhance knowledge dissemination and recognition of UNDP as a core partner of the government, the incumbent will be responsible for producing a ready-to-be-published document on a specified on-going UNDP projects (list to be provided), and consequently, is expected to perform the following:

  • starting with CCA and CCF, collect and analyse all project-related documents and publications
  • hold consultations with project staff, national partners and programme section, responsible for the project; liaise with DPI for general advice and consultations
  • produce draft contents of project publication with brief description of each chapter
  • produce draft of a ready-to-be-published document on each specified on-going UNDP project
  • discuss draft; incorporate changes and suggestions and provide final version ready for publishing

6. Experience and Qualifications:

  • Upwards of a Master’s degree in the field relevant to the particular project, or in journalism
  • Fluency in English (preferably native speaker)
  • at least 5 years of related work experience, including at least 2 years in Ukraine
  • Working knowledge of UNDP’s involvement in Ukraine, its programs and policies
  • Previous experience with UNDP would be an asset
  • Experience in working with MS Word, MS Publisher, PowerPoint, MS Excel
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as required
